Blog Update: Forum Changes

Hey nostalgia addicts!

This is a bit of an update post as we have some news to share.

It’s been said that nobody likes change (well most people anyway)  - and we’ve definitely been trying to get our heads around this one! When we revamped our Nostalgia Pie site over six years ago, one of the things we were most excited about was the launch of our accompanying forum which we’d been itching to get started for ages (well not literally itching, but you get me!) and we can honestly say that the forum was well worth the wait. It’s added a lot of fun to the site; helped build our Nostalgia Pie community, and we’ve had lots of interesting discussions over these message boards. That’s not to say that some of these discussions haven’t got mildly heated at times - but all’s well that ends well and all that, and we’re all still mates!

However earlier this year, we received the news that the powers that be are doing away with the forum feature. It was disappointing to hear as we absolutely love our forum and it’s most certainly not our decision but what can we say - stuff happens!

But we’re happy to say that all is not lost. While the forum platform  is being retired, all existing forum posts and comments have already been transferred to the ‘Groups’ feature - which is going to be the Forum’s new home. Therefore all past posts, comments, messages, threads and rants live on - and not just in our hearts and minds but visibly on our new Groups home! The Groups feature is now ready to use by anyone who wishes to create forum posts, even though we are still working on making this new messaging Groups area more user-friendly for our members. It’s in its early stages so please bear with us.

As some of you who are members of the Retro Reads book group will already be familiar with the Groups feature as it’s where we’ve held our online book group meetings. We liked that the Forum and Reading Group were in two different spaces , as it meant that there was less chance of the Reading Group comments getting lost within all the various forum threads. We’re still not sure about the two features sharing the same space, which is something else we’ll need to iron out but we’ll definitely keep you, er, posted about any new developments. We’re still making tweaks and adjustments.

With all this in mind, there’s some info we’d like to share:

  • The platform that we currently refer to as the ‘Nostalgia Pie Forum’ will officially close on 15th October 2025. However we ask you to head over to ‘Groups’ if you would like to create forum posts now.

  • Even though it won’t be in use, we will still be keeping the old forum up until the platform owners remove the forum feature completely. Why? Well, it’s for nostalgia - what else!

  • If you have already subscribed to Nostalgia Pie, your login details will still work, so there’s no need to resubscribe, reset login details etc. Just get stuck in!

  • If you would like to post in the new Groups space but you have not subscribed, then you can do so now.

  • The new Groups space is still a work in progress but it’s fully functional and ready to use.

  • ALL existing Forum posts and comments have already been transferred to the new Groups area. That's why we ask you to post in this space from now on. Don't wait until October 15th.

  • The old forum will disappear completely in March 2026.

If you have any questions at all regarding the new forum changes, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Angel and put your questions to her via the contact form. But in the meanwhile, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who have taken part in forum discussions over the last six years. You’re a big part of what and why we do what we do, and we’re grateful to all of you for the part you’ve played in building up this community. While we’re sad to say goodbye to the old forum, we can’t wait to see what the new one will deliver. Here’s to the next episode. Or the next forum space rather!
