Forum Rules and Guidelines
Hi! Help yourself to a slice of pie!!!

Welcome nostalgia addicts!
We are so glad you decided not only to take a stroll down memory lane with us but also become a member of the Nostalgia Pie community!

Becoming a member allows you to post on the message boards, comment on posts, and get any freebies that Nostalgia Pie is giving away.

We ask you to read the Members' Notes and Site Rules pages, understanding the terms and conditions for Nostalgia Pie before requesting to become a member. This page (Members' Notes) explains how to become a member and gives information with regards to setting up an account and profile, and explains appropriate conduct on this site.
What You need To Do

-
Sign up to request to become a member. By requesting to become a member, you are confirming that you are over the age of 18. True, there's nothing PG about this site but this decision was made with regards to privacy and safety issues. NP has the right to refuse/cancel membership to anyone we believe is not over 18.

-
Nostalgia Pie will need to approve your request and we aim to do this as quickly as possible.

-
Once your request has been approved, you will be notified by email. You can now go ahead and create your profile.

Creating Your Profile

-
Hit the Log in/Sign up box in the header to gain access to your account, and then sign in with your login details.

-
Go to 'Profile' in the dropdown menu. Now you can start creating your profile.

-
Your real name will appear on your profile card e.g. - Susie Smith, Greg Jones etc. We strongly recommend that you change it to a username, the more unique the better e.g. - Magentamagic, Retrometro etc.

-
After changing your username, be sure to save it!

-
You can upload a profile pic and a cover photo if you'd like to.

-
Make your profile public. This is important for you to able to interact on the message boards and communicate with members. It will be seen by other members only and NOT by the general public.

-
Fill in the 'About' section telling other members about yourself. You can also add photos and videos.

-
If you don't mind other members contacting you, you can add any or all of the following:
- link to a social media account
- link to your website

We advise you NOT to post your personal phone number on your profile.

Account Settings
-
It's also a good idea to go to 'My Account' and in the sections 'First Name' and 'Last Name' change the details to your username to ensure privacy.
-
-
Your email adress will not be seen at all by the general public and will ONLY be visible to members if you:
-
include that in the 'About' section of your profile
-
Change your settings so that it's visible to the site's members

-
Go to 'Settings' in the dropdown menu. Hit 'Subscribe' if you wish to receive emails and updates. You can unsubscribe from this at any time.

-
Then edit your notifications to ensure we don't clog up your email/account!

If you are the owner of another nostalgia site, there's no problem with you including your details in your profile (there's room for all of us!) but we kindly ask you not to publicize your site on our message boards. Such posts will be removed or modified.

One person, one account

-
One account per person - There is no need for members to have more than one account on this site. Running multiple identities on our forums is not permitted.

-
Having several accounts with one identity is also not permitted!

-
If you are unable to access your account, please get in touch with us rather than creating a new one.

-
Violation of the one account per person rule might result in all of your accounts getting banned.

-
Any impersonation of a user from these forums, or just anyone who isn't YOU in any mode of communication, is strictly prohibited and will result in a banning.
Stay Safe

-
We'd like to think that nostalgia addicts are the coolest people around. And indeed they are. But remember that this forum is a public place where posts can be read by members and non-members alike. Don't post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing with a stranger.

-
Don't post any details on the public message boards that may identify you or anyone else, such as your address or phone number.
-
Members are permitted to include their email or links to social media on their profiles if they don't mind other members contacting them. The members' area is private and cannot be accessed by non-members but nonetheless, if you choose to include such info, you do so at your own risk. NP takes no responsibility for such actions or their outcomes.

-
We realise that you may choose to meet members in person for any number of reasons. If so, please take the necessary precautions that you would when meeting a stranger (letting someone know where you're going, meeting in a public place during the day etc.) Please exercise caution and common sense. Nostalgia Pie does not take responsibility for such actions or the outcomes.

Copyrighted material

-
The posting of any copyrighted material on our web site is strictly prohibited. Copyright material must not be posted unless it is owned by you, and that includes your profile/cover images.

-
Pictures/videos may be posted as long as they are not explicit, offensive, or copyrighted.

-
Offending posts will be removed and persistent offenders risk being banned from the forums.

-
Nostalgia Pie reserves the right to report the IP address of persistent offenders to copyright owners.

-
Don't take avatar or graphics of other members and use them as your own, without permission. Aside from the fact that it's impolite, they may be somebody else's intellectual property. Always ask first.
Trading on Nostalgia Pie:

Buying and Selling

-
The main purpose of the Nostalgia Pie site is NOT for buying and selling. However, we know that many nostalgia addicts are always on the lookout for certain items. For that reason we have set up a message board called The Ol' Memorabilia Shop. Anything related to buying, selling, or exchanging should be posted on this board ONLY. Posts placed on other boards will be moved/deleted.

-
Nostalgia Pie has put certain measures in place for posting ads on The Ol' Memorabilia Shop. However Nostalgia Pie does not take any responsibility for issues that arise from sales, suggestions or recommendations of any kind between members. While we appreciate being told of any disputes, please understand that other that block a repeat offender, there isn't much else NP can do. Should a problem occur, please take up the matter with the relevant parties.

-
Any items up for sale/exchange must be relevant to this site i.e - vintage/retro items, pop memorabilia etc. Any posts for items which are not relevant will be deleted.

-
In any transaction there is always an element of risk. Whether you are looking to buy, sell or exchange, always proceed with caution and common sense. Make sure you fully understand the terms of the deal and what you are buying/selling.

-
Right now, Nostalgia Pie will only allow sellers to use The Ol' Memorabilia Shop message board IF they have:

-
an eBay, Etsy, Depop or some other legitimate online shop
-
a bricks and mortar store
-
a regular market stall
-
a pitch at an established car boot sale

-
The Ol' Memorabilia Shop is the ONLY forum board where you are permitted to include a link to your site/page/shop in the actual post.
-
-
Sellers who do not possess any of the above are currently NOT permitted to post on The Ol' Memorabilia Shop message board, and such posts will be removed.
-
If you do have a product for sale, please be as detailed and as accurate as you can in the description, pointing out any flaws that might affect the product and include photos as well as a link to your site/post/page account.
-
-
Exchanges and Giveaways

-
If you have an item to swap or to give away without any money being exchanged, you are permitted to post on the message board.
-
If you are on a site like Freecycle, for example, you can leave a link to your post.
-
If you are not on any sites like Freecycle, then you are allowed to leave a link to one of your social media accounts or an email address on your post and then take it from there. These are the only two types of contact details that are allowed on the forum boards. Telephone numbers and home addresses are strictly not allowed.
-
Once again if you do have a product to swap/giveaway, please be as detailed and as accurate as you can in the description, pointing out any flaws that might affect the product and include photos as well as a link to your site/post/page account.

-
If you are a buyer, NEVER send any cash. The buyer should be providing you with secure payment method options.

- Posting links in order to generate affiliate commissions is not permitted at Nostalgia Pie.

-
In general, don't post advertisements. If a post is mostly just an ad, it will likely be removed, although advertising may be allowed in certain circumstances; PM Nostalgia Pie before posting.

-
Message threads/posts for items that have absolutely no relevance to the Nostalgia Pie community whatsoever will definitely be deleted.
