Yesterday marked thirty years since Friends first aired. Some of us cannot remember a time without it. Of course the anniversary was very bittersweet because Matthew Perry and James Michael Tyler are no longer with us. 😥 But we are grateful for the years of laughter that they have all given us. It may only be a TV show but Friends means a lot to me and to countless fans around the world.
What are your favourite Friends memories? No doubt you have loads.
For me it was:
Chandler's proposal gone wrong
Monica proposing to Chandler
Rachel's trifle!
Ross and Emily's wedding
Brad Pitt's appearance
Chandler kicking out his horrible roommate and Joey moving back in.
I had just started sixth form when Friends first began and I have to admit, I didn't watch it. I was too busy poring over my text books! It was very quiet for that first year but then the whole world, it seemed, sat up and took notice.
It really was a global phenomenon on an epic scale. I wonder if we'll ever see a show of that magnitude again.
For me it's the whole Red Sweater saga when it was revealed that Ross was the father of Rachel's baby. Which was exactly what the fans wanted! I actually feel that the series should of ended with a Ross and Rachel wedding. The fans waited long enough for that!
The episode where the Friends gang buy a huge quantity of lottery tickets gets my vote everytime. As soon as Ross found out the meaning of Emma's first word 'gleeba' I knew he'd be delighted. I also thought it was so sweet that everyone let Phoebe have their winning fifty cents!
As people have already said, there's too many to choose but I love the last episode where Rachel actually 'got off the plane!' Ross and Rachel belonged together and I'd of been so upset if they didn't reunite. And that final ever scene in Monica's apartment, the cast must have had a right lump in their throats. And for me one of the funniest episodes were the one where Ross thought Joey had saved his life when in reality, Joey were just saving his sandwich. I've watched it a million times and it still makes me laugh out loud!
Friends was always something I liked to watch after a hard day. I was 8 when the show started, and just starting college when it ended. So I guess you could say that I've grown up with it and I'm grateful for all the repeats. In fact it's so hard to believe that there are only ten seasons. It was very sad to hear that the actors who played Chandler and Gunther had passed away.
I think it would take too long to list every memorable storyline, but I loved Ross and Rachel finally getting together. Chandler and Monica's wedding was also a lot of fun, especially when it was revealed that Rachel was pregnant.
The Chandler and Joey moments were also the sweetest.
I have a friendship group that I guess is a lot like the Friends group but doesn't everyone say that!
I love Friends. A good job too because let's face it, no matter where in the world you live, you can't escape it. There are so many memorable Friends episodes and moments. My personal favourite was the Julie-Ross-Rachel love triangle. This occurred just after Friends really started to take off and Ross and Rachel were becoming the legendary couple that they now are. So this storyline reminds me of the early days of the show - and my life just before I started uni!
A lot of people forget about Julie but you're right. I remember that cliffhanger at the end of season one where Rachel was waiting for Ross at the airport just as he arrived with his new girlfriend Julie. The show's success escalated from here and become one of the most well-loved sitcoms.
I adore Friends. It's one of my favourite sitcoms. My children love it too. In fact my youngest was born the same year Friends ended but they've all still grown up with this show.
I was so sad and shocked when Matthew Perry died. I think everyone was. I hope that he's now resting peacefully.
My favourite memories include the row Ross and Rachel had when they broke up. Who would of thought it would take almost a decade to get them back together again. I also liked Helen Baxendale appearing as Emily even though a lot of people didn't like the character. At the time Helen was a massive star in Britain so it was great to see her in another big TV show across the pond.
Oh and Ross revealed as the father of Rachel's baby. I think we all knew at that point that they'd be back together again!
It was big news when Helen Baxendale joined the cast of Friends. I recently heard that she was supposed to have been on the show long-term and that Ross and Emily were never meant to split up. Well I'm glad that things worked out the way they did! And yes, Helen was a massive star in Britain due to Cold Feet which I'm embarrassed to say, I never watched!

Just anything with Phoebe! Alot of people say I'm a lot like her. I have to say I can definitely see some similarities! 😁
