Well after all the anticipation, the jubilee celebrations and the jubilee long weekend are here!!! Unfortunately I couldn't travel down to London and I will sadly be working over the weekend 😣 (though I will more than make up for it during the evenings!) But it was so lovely to watch all the people turn out for Her Majesty, all jubilant and excited. Not to mention the Queen surrounded by three generations of her beautiful family. I know there's a lot of animosity towards Megan and Harry but when all is said and done, I'm so glad that were there. It wouldn't of been right otherwise. And anyway - what family doesn't have their fair share of problems. Of course Prince Philip's absence was very much felt, and no doubt he were on Her majesty's mind all day. There were news reports that she felt a bit poorly afterwards so I hope she's all right now.
Whether you love the Royals like I do or not, no one can deny that this is a truly historical occasion and one that we are very lucky to have lived through, seeing our country's longest reining monarch. No other king or queen has ever celebrated a platinum jubilee and I honestly thought no one would ever beat Queen Victoria's reign - and then her great-great granddaughter did. I'm just sorry I weren't in London to really see history in the making.
Very, very proud to be British! 👑
I have to say it but I'm not someone who goes crazy over the royal family even though I'm British. And while I get why the queen's jubilee was celebrated and that she's made history, I think that with Britain in the turmoil that it's in, I think it was quite insensitive to have this massive celebration. The cost of living in the UK is out of control. There are families who can barely afford to eat over there, there are old people who have to choose between heating or eating, and there's homeless people sleeping on the streets not too far from Buckingham Palace. For all of these reasons I think they could have toned things down a bit.
