Hi everybody.
I have just discovered this space so I thought I should introduce myself properly even though I have already been posting on these message boards.
I am from Delhi, India and I arrived in US more than ten years ago for work. I'm sure it'll greatly surprise everyone to know that I work in I.T. 😁 I was first in California but now I live in Washington very close to Seattle. It was here that I met my very beautiful girlfriend and we have been together now for nearly three years. In fact she is on this site and it was she who introduced me to here. Everybody say hi to Mountaingirl! 😀❤️
I was born in the mid eighties but of course I was born into a different culture to a lot of you guys here. That doesn't mean that we were completely devoid of all western influences. In actual fact I would say that there are more western influences in certain parts of India such as Delhi, so certain things about movies, music, fashion, celebrities I already know. But naturally there are plenty of things I don't know about so this site is very useful in teaching me about life in places like US and UK around the time I was born.
So I am very happy to be on this Nostalgia Pie site, and very happy to meet you all. And thanks to Mountaingirl for introducing me. 😘
Hello Cheese Galore and welcome to Nostalgia Pie. You'll have to thank Mountaingirl from me for having brought us a new member to our fun community! 😁
I've been to India a few times before but never to Delhi. I would definitely like to go, as well as to Goa and Bangalore - two places I keep hearing lots of great things about.
I have been to Seattle though. That was many years ago when I lived in the PNW. Unfortunately it was only for one evening, so I need to go back and do more exploring. I am pleased to say however, that I got to go to the world's very first Starbucks! 😊☕️
I hope Nostalgia Pie will help fill any gaps in your knowledge of 1980s/1990s pop culture!
Great to have you here, Cheese!
Cheeeeese!!!!
Welcome! It's great to have someone else on here who's now living in my home state. Hope you're enjoying life in WA. As you know we do have a very big Indian community here, and one of my husband's aunts, though she's born in America, her family actually come from India. We sometimes go over to her house and she cooks us these huge amazing Indian meals.
Hey there!
I see you haven't joined this site all that long ago. Well I signed up this month also. It's a cool site and I'm looking forward to checking out more articles and getting to know more of the people who are on here. I'm sure you are too. 😊
Hey there Cheese Galore.
I'm WA born and raised, so welcome to my home state. I hope you've settled in here real well. I've lived in Tacoma and Renton, but now I've moved further out to Olympia.
Haha! I knew it wouldn't take you long to find your way here! 😁
Hello Cheese! I'm from Portland, OR so we're kinda like neighbors! Haha!
Hello Cheese, from one expat to another one - albeit to and from different countries! Hope your enjoying yourself in Seattle.
Hello Cheesy Galore. Welcome to this forum. I've never been to India but I have been to America. Also we had a lot of Indians where I lived in London. I also left my home country of England and moved all the way to Sydney Australia when I was in my early twenties for a new life. Now I definitely think of it as home. I haven't even been back to London for maybe fourteen years. I'm sure for you America is now home.
Hello Cheese Galore. Cool name! Sounds like a party at our house! 😂🧀🧀🧀🧀
I hope you're enjoying life in Seattle. It's where I'm from but now I live in OR. I know there's a big Indian community where you are so that must be so familiar and comforting for you being so far away from home.
Hi there Cheese!
I'm Mandy and I'm another newcomer to this blog. Even though I signed up more than two weeks ago, I believe that this is my very first post if my memory serves me correctly - and at this stage of my life it doesn't always!
I'm also very excited to be on this site where I can get to share memories and also learn more about the time I grew up in.
Hi Cheese Galore 🧀 and welcome! 😊
It's always exciting when a new member drops by! 😃 A very warm welcome to you, Cheese Galore. But not too warm because we don't want you to melt! 😉🧀
Hello and welcome to our little nostalgic community! 😊
Hiya! Lovely to see an new member on here. I'm quite big on travel but never ventured as far out as India. I would definitely like to though. Goa has always been a place I wanted to visit and I've heard lots of good things about it. I hope you get to learns masses about the eighties from here. 😊
Welcome Cheese Galore. I think you might be the first member to hail from India, and just as you're looking forward to hearing about life as we knew it back in the day, we're looking forward to learning a bit more about life as you knew it. I absolutely adore travel but I have to say I haven't explored Asia as much as I would have liked, and have yet to visit India. I'm into art and design and Indian has some stunning architecture. Moreover I'm wearing lots of Indian style jewellery these days, which I find so beautiful, so a trip to India is definitely something I'd like to do. Unfortunately life as a single mum doesn't leave me with a lot of time to pursue my interests but I do hope it'll be possible one day.
