This idea for this post came from Cheesegalore as I've just replied to his post about the cheese dishes we liked in childhood. So I'm now asking everyone what their fave potato dishes from childhood were and if you still like them. I don't know anyone who doesn't eat potatoes unless they're on a diet or something. We ate masses of them in our family. I think it's probably a staple for most families that are on a tight budget and it was no different for us. For us, potato favourites included:
Chips - of course! Not skinny fries or potatoe wedges but chip shop style fat chips.
Mashed potatoes - often served with sausages or pie.
Shepherds pie
Fish pie
Roast spuds
Jacket spuds
Bubble and squeak - or champ if you're Irish like us.
Chips and gravy! I'm a northerner through and through so I grew up on chips and gravy, and trust me - it makes everything all right again!
