I'm not sure if this falls under the quiz show category but I just wondered how many people on here used to watch Blind Date? For those of you who live outside of the UK, you may have had your own version of the show - where someone has to pick a date by listening to the replies to his/her questions given by three contestants hidden behind a screen.
Blind Date started in the mid 80s but ended around late 90s I think (don't quote me on any of that!) All that I do know for sure was that it was hosted by Cilla Black, was an absolute hoot, and made for great Saturday night TV. As I got older I used to watch it while putting on my make up to go out.
I've actually been watching old clips/episodes of Blind Date and it's still hysterically funny. Not to mention the fashion of that time. We may all look back at it in fondness, but how many people are willing to step out their front door looking like that never mind going on a date! But I do still enjoy watching these old clips - although now I'm more convinced than ever that the lines are all rehearsed!
I was about 13 when Blind Date ended but I remember it being a laugh. My nan, mum and aunts, well a lot of my family were addicted but I reckon that by the time the 2000s came around, their interest in the show started to fade a bit.
I did watch the new-look show when it was hosted by Paul O'Grady and I liked it a lot. I especially liked that they also featured same sex couples which the previous show didn't. I know the Blind Date reboot wasn't as popular because most people preferred the older format with Cilla Black. But because I hadn't watched it as long as many others, I didn't have a particular attachment and was able to watch Paul O'Grady's Blind Date with fresher eyes I suppose.
