So I watched this video and it got me wondering if anyone especially young people still go clubbing now. I was a teenager in the nineties and as soon as we were allowed into clubs that's what we did. It was a big part of British youth culture. I enjoyed my time clubbing even though it wasn't something I did all the time. But every now and then I liked to go clubbing with my friends and it was always a lot of fun. But there's a lot of clubs closing and I personally don't know a whole heap of people who still go to clubs. It's sad if nobody goes anymore because I think it's something that everyone especially young people should experience. You're only young once and all that jazz.
So if people don't go clubbing anymore, then what do they do now for fun?
My stepkids frequent rock bars and clubs as that's their sort of music and crowd. They go whenever time and money will allow. So yeah, I suppose there are still some who are clubbing it up. Plus I'm from Manchester. They were always clubbing it up on a Friday and Saturday night and I'm sure they still are.
I was a young girl from a small town so when I moved to London, I really took to the nightlife there. We're talking about more than twenty years ago when the scene was very lively. Some of you have mentioned the cost, and of course nights out are never cheap, but it also depended on where you went. My husband was in a band then so one of the reasons why I used to go to lots of venues was to watch him play. I know lots of young people who are of club age but they don't seem to be living it up the way we did in terms of clubbing. But they still seem to be having fun so all good.
I think one reason for the decline of clubbing is the cost. Have you seen the price of a night out??? Even in just an average nightclub. Then you have to factor in the cost of a cab which is just shocking. I wasn't big into clubbing but I did enjoy nights out like anyone else and have some great memories. I wonder what young people do for fun now.
There's always been a vibrant nightlife in Seattle and of course in my younger days, I indulged. Or maybe that should be overindulged. I still like to go out and have fun but these days it's more bars where it's more laidback and you don't have to bust a vocal chord trying to talk to your friend who's sat right next to you. I'm a mom of two and I know one day they'll probably be out clubbing it up too. But that won't be for a long time! Though I have no idea what the club scene will look like then.
My clubbing days are long gone and I can't see me setting foot in a club again. Not because I have a problem with it but because no one I know is really into clubbing any more. I do, of course, have very fond memories of my clubbing days, but while I do enjoy a good night out, these days it doesn't involve a nightclub!
I can't say for certain but I've had an inkling that post-Covid, a lot of people - even the young ones - don't frequent clubs as much as they used to. But I think it's more to do with costs than anything else. It wasn't so bad back in the day but now a night out can cost a small fortune!
My guess is that people have replaced nightclubs with pubs; bars; restaurants, cinemas and gigs. Basically a lot of the things I like to do!
I'm not such a hardcore clubber these days. At my age, you wouldn't be! But I'm not saying my clubbing days are over either. I would still go depending on the event. These days I prefer to go to bars and have drinks and a laugh with my mates where I don't have to scream to be heard. I'm a music lover so that would be my main reason for going into any club. One thing I definitely agree with is that young people aren't going out to nightclubs the way we were when we were that age. It's a pity as it's all part of growing up and socializing but I can also think of a whole lot of reasons why that should be the case.
