It goes without saying that writer John Sullivan was a genius when it came to comedy, and is responsible for creating sit-coms and characters which the British viewing public have taken to their hearts.
Two of Sullivan's works that I really enjoy are Just Good Friends and Dear John. I can watch them over and over again and they never get old. And I had no idea until recently that Sullivan had been a writer on The Two Ronnies which we couldn't get enough of in our house!
Which of Sullivan's work are you a massive fan of? You'll notice I haven't said anything about Only Fools and Horses - but that's because Only Fools is a given! Who couldn't like Del, Rodney and co.?
I think in the nineties there was a comedy series called Sitting Pretty. It didn't last for very long but I'm sure that was written by John Sullivan. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone!
To be honest, I've only ever seen Citizen Smith once. I remember that I did enjoy it but like you, yes, I also remember that my interest did wane towards the end though I've no idea why. Perhaps I was just too young to appreciate it. But I definitely wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Only Fools and Citizen Smith were two really good ones. Although I have to say the last series of Citizen Smith wasn't as good. Wolfie without Shirley just didn't work for me. And Dear John was hysterically funny. I think the show only ended because the actor who played the main character sadly passed away but I'm not a hundred per cent sure if that was the reason.
Yeah I've got to say Only Fools and Horses as well. It was a big hit with my family. Well everyone I knew was a fan. I have very fond memories of watching the Christmas episodes with my family.
Well I've got to say Only Fools. Who couldn't like Only Fools! It's no wonder it ran for as long as it did as it were dead good. I'd need to refresh my memory as to which ones were written by Sullivan as I probably know them but just don't know that they're his. Never really watched Just Good Friends and I don't remember Dear John but I'm sure they were dead funny.
