A fairly new member here. I have known about this website for a while but didn’t get around to joining until recently.
I’m 60, have lived in Sydney, Australia, for all but three years of my life (1995-1998) when I lived and worked in a nice quiet rural town, where I should have stayed, but that’s another story. My ‘nostalgic’ years are roughly the 30 years that span 1965 to 1995, particularly the 70s and 80s, so this site is right up my alley. To be honest, I was really too young at the time to appreciate most of the 60s, and getting on in years a bit to care too much for popular culture beyond the mid-90s.
The 1970s was really my blue-ribbon decade, where I aged from 9 to 19. The 1980s slightly less so, where life started to get a bit more serious, with marriage, children, mortgage, work, and the general responsibility that goes with those and other things. Still, a pretty good decade though, the 80s, after all, I was only in my twenties and very happily married.
Anyway, I’ve rambled on a bit too much, but I must say I like the site and the forum. It’s not a negative remark, but it’s a lot less serious than other blogs and forums around the place, where people can get far too serious and overanalyse things to death. There’s a time and place for the serious and analytical stuff, but not all the time. I only wish there was a bit more activity here and perhaps a few more members.
Awesome - the second Australian member I've come across in less than five minutes! It's quite a diverse group here. I love it!
