Hey everybody!
I'm very new to the site and I'm really happy to be here. I'm a Midwest girl. I was born and raised in the Midwest and I still live there now. But for some time, I lived in Europe as my dad was in the military. So I guess you could call me a military brat! Though hopefully I'm not much of a brat! 😉
I was born in the 1980s and spent my teenage years in the 1990s and 2000s. So I regard those as my key decades I guess. I did marry my wonderful husband in 2010 so that was a special decade too I guess. But after that very defining moment in my life, it's all been a bit so-so. So yeah - those are my key decades!
Just to let you all know a little something about me, I'm a history buff and I work for the museum services. So naturally this is just the kind of site I would sign up to. I love all kinds of music and I was a big boy band fanatic in my younger years. I still love the New Kids, Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. In my spare time I enjoy designing jewelry and I love travel. I come from a small Midwestern town where many haven't even left the state let alone the country so I'm glad that I've had the opportunities to visit other countries and see a little of life outside of America. And talking about America, it's nice to see some Americans on this site. I thought it was mostly for British people.
Hi Jammy Bread. I'm really big on design. I have to be - it's what I do for a living! And even just as an interest, I like activities that involve elements of design - like floral arranging for instance. I've done a bit of jewellery designing albeit only as a hobby but would definitely like to do more.
There's a real mixture of people on here from all over the world. So everyone is very welcome. x
Hi Jammy welcome to Nostalgia Pie. I was very excited to hear that you make your own jewelry. I do too. In fact for a while I actually taught classes. But that was before I was as busy as I am now with my kids. Haha! But I still make jewelry especially to give as gifts and stuff. It's one of my favorite ways to get creative.
LOL! I just left a comment on one New Kid newcomer, and now here's another! LOL! The blockheads are coming! LOL!
Good to have you hear, Ms. Jammy Bread!
Hello Jammy!
You're a girl from the Mid West... well I'm a girl from the West Mids! 😂 It's a region in England, and while I was born and raised there, I now in Lancashire which is in the north of England. And like you, I do like my boy bands. What can I say, it's the era I grew up in! There were always new boy bands cropping up, and while I like a few of them, no one could ever rival the New Kids On The Block. My absolute fave! Love New Kids. ❤️
I'm glad that you've been given a very warm welcome on here, and that you know that everyone is welcome here not just British people. It's just for people who love nostalgia as much as we do.
So good to see you on here, Jammy Bread. 🤗
Welcome Jammy! Well I suppose I could call myself an honorary eighties child because I was born in 79, and obviously i don't remember that decade at all. So it's all about the eighties for me! Never been to the Midwest part of America but I do have mates in Chicago so I'd love to visit one day. And in my youth, which seems a far distant memory, I couldn't get enough of them boy bands!
Hello from another boyband loving eighties kid! 💗
Hello Jammy Bread. Good to meet you. You talked about key decades, well I was born in 1977 but I don't remember the 70s so I suppose for me it would be the 80s and 90s. Though I suppose I should give a shout out to the 2000s because that was when I got married, moved to Australia and became a mum. It was a new dawn all right!
And yes, like you I was into all those boy bands but now I just wonder why! Haha!
Welcome Jammy! I'm Jodi and I'm from WA state. Like you I also loved all those boy bands. I still do and have to put up with a lot of teasing from my husband because of it. And talking of husbands, I also got married the same decade as you - towards the end of the 2010s. Never really thought I'd get married and now here I am! Haha!
We like getting new members, us!
Hiya Jammy! Welcome! Just to echo what the others have said, where ever in the world you're from, all are welcome!
I've also spent a bit of time in America due to my work in a past life (I was a nanny!) Haven't had much time to travel lately but hope to do so again soon. I was very excited to hear that you work for the museum services where you are. I've also done something similar and since coming back to Britain, most of my job history has been in arts and heritage. So it's no surprise then that we've found ourselves on this site.
Oh and I also got married in the 2010s but seven years after you! 😃
Welcome Jammy Bread. Cool name! Haha! It's good to see this community expanding. There's actually quite a few Americans on this site, as well as people from other countries. So it's nice to see people from all over the world united by the common interests that we have.
Ooh another new member! Hello Jammy Bread. Lovely to meet you. Well my main decades are the eighties and nineties for my misguided and misspent youth! But I did get married in the 200s and became a mum in the 2010s so those decades are pretty special to me too. 😀
Hello and welcome Jammy!!! It's nice to meet a new member - and a fellow Blockhead at that! I already know what a fabulous person you are! 😀
I've visited the Midwest a few times - my husband is from there and it was actually the first region of America that I ever visited way back in the nineties as my mum's relatives live out there. I even celebrated my 21st there!
And while I suppose I do write a lot of posts that most British people will be able to relate to, this site is not mostly for British people - it's for all those who love nostalgia from the 60s right up until the 90s, regardless of where they're from.
Good to have you here, Jammy! 💖
