I was very much a tomboy back in the 90s so for me it was all baggy jeans and t-shirts, crop tops, and denim and lumberjack shirts... oh and let's not forget the Kangol hat. Worn backwards of course! And I loved it when RnB singer Aaliyah came on the scene because she made it cool for girls to have their boxers on show under their low-waisted baggy jeans. I used to think I looked soooo badass dressed like that!
But I did do girly occasionally. Remember those short, strappy black dresses with the A-line style skirts? Well that was my go-to outfit when there was a party, worn with a tight fitting t-shirt. Oh and I loved body suits - perfect with jeans or those A-line dresses. Funny thing is, now body suits are back en vogue, I don't own a single one.
I went through quite a few different styles. When I started sixth form and we no longer had to wear uniform, it was just basic jeans and t-shirt. Sometimes with a plaid shirt which was all the rage back then. Oh and the jeans were pretty high-waisted. Maybe not quite Simon Cowell but definitely not like today's styles. Although a lot of girls used to wear their jeans slung quite low like Aaliyah did.
I wasn't really a dress or skirt kind of girl back then, but I did have a few of those A line skirts and dresses that were very popular back then.
I went through just about every fashion trend that the nineties had to offer! I look at photos and 'what was I thinking?' does come to mind a lot - especially when I look back at my 'big n' baggy' phase! 😂
I practically lived in my Doc Martens. Wore them with everything. Jeans, leggings, denim cutt-off, even dresses and skirts. Flowery ones at that too!
Wow! I was really into dance back in the day so lots of dance clothes, and sporty stuff. But my wardrobe was also really girly and cutesie too - babydoll dresses, satin shirt dresses, strappy dresses etc. Coming from WA where grunge was huge, I tried the grunge look for a while but it really wasn't me! 😁
Hmmm... I was a young teen and I don't think that I had just one particular look. Coming from WA I was of course rocking the grunge look. But I also wore like these little strappy dresses with block heels. And I also had a lot of satin in my wardrobe. Satin dresses, skirts, shirts, jackets...
I was pretty much the same although I didn't have the Doc Martens. I did have boots though which I DID sometimes wear with full skirts or long dresses and that always seemed to cause a bit of a stir.
I wasn't really into girly outfits back then or anything, so there were a lot of jeans, denim shirts, plaid shirts, Doc Martens that kind of thing. But if I did wear skirts or dresses I often teamed them up with my Doc Martens which was the style at the time.
Loved A line skirts and dresses. Jelly shoes were also (briefly) back in fashion and I had a pair in every colour. Or so it seemed! Too bad I didn't keep them. I think my daughter would have loved them.
