I was very much a tomboy back in the 90s so for me it was all baggy jeans and t-shirts, crop tops, and denim and lumberjack shirts... oh and let's not forget the Kangol hat. Worn backwards of course! And I loved it when RnB singer Aaliyah came on the scene because she made it cool for girls to have their boxers on show under their low-waisted baggy jeans. I used to think I looked soooo badass dressed like that!
But I did do girly occasionally. Remember those short, strappy black dresses with the A-line style skirts? Well that was my go-to outfit when there was a party, worn with a tight fitting t-shirt. Oh and I loved body suits - perfect with jeans or those A-line dresses. Funny thing is, now body suits are back en vogue, I don't own a single one.
I went through quite a few different styles. When I started sixth form and we no longer had to wear uniform, it was just basic jeans and t-shirt. Sometimes with a plaid shirt which was all the rage back then. Oh and the jeans were pretty high-waisted. Maybe not quite Simon Cowell but definitely not like today's styles. Although a lot of girls used to wear their jeans slung quite low like Aaliyah did.
I wasn't really a dress or skirt kind of girl back then, but I did have a few of those A line skirts and dresses that were very popular back then.
