I'm Angel and I am a complete and utter nostalgia addict!

 

If I'm honest I do love different things about each of the decades since the twentieth century began but I feel an affinity with the seventies, eighties, and nineties - the period I refer to as 'my era' because those are the ones in which I spent my childhood and teen years.

I'm an English teacher from London who now lives in the USA. So now not only am I nostalgic for years gone by but I'm also terribly homesick! I'm married to an amazing man who I will refer to on here as Mr. D (or The Fella!). We met in London more than a decade ago and spent a lot of that time going back and forth across the Atlantic.

 

I know you'd like to know something about the person behind the site so I thought I'd throw a few facts out there.

 Nostalgia Notes...

​

• I refer to the 1980s and 1990s as my era because that was the time in which I grew up ...

• ...But I've got a fondness for the 1970s - the decade in which I was born even though I have absolutely no recollection of it owing to the fact that I was still in nappies when the seventies ended!

• And I've also got a real passion for the 1960s - a time I have absolutely no recollection of owing to the fact that I wasn't around then! But I wish I'd been a teenager during that time.

• Have always been and will always be a New Kids On The Block fan despite loving rock music.

• And it's because I'm a bit of a rock chick that people assume I must have been a grunger back in the '90s. I wasn't - I loved my urban music especially swingbeat.

• For a long time, Jordan Knight was the love of my life. For a looooong time. Then I met Mr. D....

• I collect teen and women's mags, mainly from the 1980s and 1990s.

• I also collect vintage cook books.

• I actually collect a lot of vintage things - anything from my era and even before that - much to Mr. D.'s annoyance!

• I know very little about today's hottest TV shows as I prefer to watch shows from way back when. No Walking Dead for this girl!

• I majored in history which I suppose is understandable for a girl who loves old things - sorry, vintage/retro!

And Other Things...

• I have a love/hate relationship with oranges.

• I'm not a vegetarian but I prefer vegetarian pizzas and pies to meat ones.

• I'm a really rubbish driver.

• I detest plain sparkling water.

• I'm famous for my cocktails, canapés and cheeseboards (sounds like a new blog title...)

• I am obsessed with angels.

• My accent transcends three London regions...

•  ...although my husband thinks I sound too American (his fault!)

• One half of me is very black lace, leather and vodka...

• ... and the other half wants to be Barbara Windsor!

• I may be known for being a girly girl but I don't own a single lipstick and haven't done so since I was fifteen.
