I've really enjoyed watching Thriller - the mystery and suspense TV show from the seventies. Had I not stumbled across it online I would never have even known it had existed. From what I understand, Thriller had only ever been repeated once on British TV during the eighties and then was never shown again.
Of course today, many old TV shows are available on DVD or have been uploaded on some video-sharing site. But is there a TV show that you really enjoyed that you think deserves to be shown on TV again?
For me it's Just Good Friends and kids TV show C.A.B. Whether they've stood the test of time or not is debatable but I'd like to see them again!
The Office, The Inbetweeners, Jackass. Bring them all back I say! Those are my tween and teen years right there!
It's good to know that Thriller was shown again less than two years ago here in the States. So I reckon I'm half right: It probably won't be repeated on any of the British mainstream channels again... but there is still a possible audience in this day and age, so that sounds hopeful. I'm definitely happy to get the word out! 😁
You never know. Thriller got screened again in 2019 by the US channel FOLK-TV. I think there's almost certainly zero chance of broadcast on the mainstream channels, but the niche-dedicated digital channels are maybe another story. If we can get the word out, there's always a chance!
Ha Ha. Yes on Saturday afternoons from 11 May until 31 August. They managed 17 (out of 43) episodes - and in several different formats - fish-eye titled, movie versions and a couple rather washed out film recordings.
'Thriller' did manage a second (partial) repeat run in Britain on the satellite/cable station 'Bravo' during the summer months of 1996.
I really liked a comedy sketch show called the Real McCoy that was on in the nineties. It had people like Felix Dexter and Meera Syaal. Also there was a little known BBC comedy that was on in the early nineties I think it was, called US Girls. I don't think it was ever repeated but it was so funny.
I remember Fat Friends. It was on in the late nineties or early noughties. It was about people at a slimming club and it was so funny. It was lighthearted and entertaining wheras TV today seems to be focus on gritty realism which is fine but too much of it can be depressing. Only problem is would they allow a show called 'Fat Friends' on the telly now?
I don't watch a great deal of television these days because there's not much that holds my interest. But if you were to ask me which TV shows I'd like to see on TV again it's like where do I begin! My So-Called Life, Doogie Howser, All-American Girl, Dr. Quinn, Dawsons' Creek, and that's just to begin with.
